On April 24, 2021, the 6th China Space Day Science Exhibition, themed "Set Sail for the Stars, Chase Dreams in Space", kicked off in Nanjing. The nationwide science tour "Space Flies the Chinese Dream" was held at the Shanghuaiqin International Cultural and Exchange Center, Nanjing. Apart from spacecraft models of major aerospace projects, the exhibition featured lunar‑soil samples brought back by the Chang’e‑5 probe.

Visitors could view the lunar‑soil samples not only with naked eyes, but also under a microscope. The Nexcope NSZ‑818 stereomicroscope, manufactured by Novel Optics, was deployed on‑site, enabling audiences to observe lunar soil in fine detail and explore the mysteries of outer space.

As a high‑end stereomicroscope independently‑designed and manufactured in‑house in China, the Nexcope NSZ‑818 was selected for this lunar‑soil exhibition thanks to its outstanding 18:1 zoom ratio. It delivers both macroscopic observation of the overall morphology of lunar soil and microscopic inspection of surface irregularities on lunar‑soil particles, presenting audiences with authentic, highly‑detailed images. Equipped with an apochromatic optical system, the microscope provides superior chromatic aberration correction and excellent colour fidelity, reproducing the true colour of lunar soil. It represents a remarkable achievement: lunar samples are visualized with an instrument fully researched and made in China.
